Tyler attended New Westminster Secondary School where he played lacrosse, football, and basketball throughout his high school career. He was named Athlete of the Year from his sophomore through senior year. He also earned Career-Athlete before enrolling at Robert Morris University with scholarships in both lacrosse and football. While at RMU, Tyler played four years of both lacrosse and football. Following his senior year, Tyler was named 1st Team All-Conference in football. He was then drafted to the Canadian Football League at 36th overall by the Ottawa Redblacks.
Midfielder at Robert Morris University; Forward for the Calgary Roughnecks (NLL) Tyler started playing indoor lacrosse at the age of five and field lacrosse at the age of 8; he continued to play both growing up. Twice, he was named the MVP of the BCJALL for indoor lacrosse and won the NDP Tournament of Champions for field lacrosse. These achievements ultimately lead him to attending Robert Morris University. At Robert Morris University, Tyler was an integral part of an explosive offense that led the nation in both goals and assists per game twice (2011 & 2012). He was a two time Second Team All-Conference Selection at Midfield and guided RMU to the NEC Conference Finals during his senior campaign, the furthest the team has ever gone. After Tyler graduated Robert Morris in 2013, he was drafted to the National Lacrosse League (NLL) at 20th overall by his hometown team, the Vancouver Stealth. With the Stealth, he has achieved two successful seasons by being named to the All-Rookie Team following his first campaign as well as being named a Top 50 Player in the League (NLL). He has since been traded to play for the Calgary Roughnecks (2016 season).
Tyler has coached both indoor and outdoor lacrosse throughout his playing career. He is now the Varsity Offensive Coordinator at Pine Richland High School.
